Ariki

I'm a little late posting images from this little sweetheart's session last week. Sorry mom and dad...hope you arrived in Saudi Arabia safe and sound. I originally met this couple when they first came to Kingston to visit with family and I photographed their maternity session.
This little guy is a sweetie! And I love his name! Ariki. His father is originally from New Zealand and apparently they belong to a long line of tribal chiefs. The tatoo on dad's arm has something to do with their family history if I remember correctly. I found it very interesting what little bit I learned about this culture and the tatoo is pretty cool. Apparently, the male chooses the name for their child and Ariki means Chief.

When this little man first arrived, he was sound asleep in his dad's arm, so I seized the moment and photographed him by the window. I knew once we started he'd likely wake up, and he did.

I think these are my very very favourite photos ever !!!

I loved the blankets they brought with them. They were gifts from grandparents and were so vibrant.
